CORE 2021 Spirit Award Recipient: Dalkin G.

Each year the CORE team comes together to select one individual they feel embodies the CORE Spirit. This individual displays an unwavering commitment and selfless determination to CORE’s organization and values. The tradition began in 2011, when CORE was founded, in honor of CORE Founder, Melodie Patton. Past recipients of the CORE Spirit Award have shown dedication to their recovery and worked hard to inspire others to work toward their own recovery goals.

2021 was a busy year at CORE! Our growth and ability to help more people than ever in the paralysis community has been amazing to witness, making it harder than ever to narrow down the client who stood out in an ever growing crowd of standouts!

Still, during the nomination process, one name was consistent! The votes are in and the 2021 CORE Spirit Award winner is Dalkin Gomez! Dalkin has been a part of the CORE program since 2019, and from day one has not only been a tremendous client, but a tremendous friend and supporter to everyone he meets in the gym. His strength and perseverance to be his best self, physically and mentally, is contagious as he encourages everyone he meets along the way! Dalkin brings his positivity and an incredible work ethic with him to every one-on-one training session, as well as FIT classes. He’s competed (and WON or placed) in the Abilities Games, Southern Sprints Rowing, and the Survival of the FITest Competitions, as well as attending all of the CORE social events and many other community adaptive events. Dalkin also tackled a big goal this year and got his adaptive driving license!

Thank you Dalkin, for keeping the CORE Spirit alive and sharing your positive vibes, shaka hand signs, humor, and motivation with all of us! Keep shining your light! The CORE Team loves ya!
