Malerie Murphy, MHA

Executive Director

Malerie re-joined CORE in December of 2015 as Executive Director. Malerie has seven years of experience in the field of neurorecovery and opened CORE in 2011. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, specializing in Exercise Physiology, and received her Masters in Health Administration from the University of Central Florida.

Malerie’s passion is to provide excellent service to the population that CORE is dedicated to while advancing the program to stay up to date with the latest research in the field. She leads an incredible team that inspires people to become their absolute best in a positive environment filled with programs designed to maximize health and achieve recovery goals. With over 7,000 hours of hands on training with clients and involvement over the years with certification programs through Shepherd center (Locomotor Training), Kennedy Krieger Institute (Activity Based Restorative Therapy courses) and Restorative Therapies (Functional Electrical Stimulation), Malerie has a wide understanding of the field and the advanced services and training to provide the most comprehensive activity based training program.

Malerie’s goal is to make CORE the most innovative exercise and recovery facility for individuals with neurological conditions in Central Florida. She looks forward to connecting and building relationships with the clients, the community, and the professionals and organizations that share in the common goal of moving the field of neurorecovery forward.

Outside of CORE, Malerie enjoys cheering on the Florida Gators (Go Gators!), working out, and judging gymnastics competitions as she is part of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judging of Florida.

Matthew Icenogle, BS

Matthew graduated from Franklin College in Indiana with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health Science. At Franklin, he ran Cross Country and participated in the Track and Field program. Matt joined the CORE team as an intern in January of 2015, which led him to find his passion for neurorecovery. After graduation, he returned to CORE as a Trainer and Internship Coordinator. Matt is a Certified Functional Electrical Stimulation Technician as well as a Certified Rock Steady Boxing Coach where he is known as “Coach Ice”. His goal orientated nature and dedication to our clients has made him an excellent asset to the team.

Colby Perry, BS, NSCA-CSCS

Training & Education Coordinator
Lead Neuro-Exercise Specialist

Colby joined CORE in 2013, completing more than 3600 hours of hands on activity based training. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports & Exercise Science with a concentration in Human Performance from the University of Central Florida, and has earned accreditations through ReWalk Robotics as a Certified ReWalk Clinician, Restorative Therapies as a Certified Functional Electrical Stimulation Technician, and participated in continuing education courses through Kennedy Krieger Institute and the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury’s Activity Based Restorative Therapy course.

Colby enjoys building relationships with his clients and is excited to help everyone reach their recovery goals. Outside of the gym, Colby enjoys spending time with his son, Dash, watching football and throwing on a cowboy hat and getting out on the dance floor!

Katie Yergler, BS, NASM-CPT

Assistant & Research Coordinator
Lead Neuro-Exercise Specialist

Katie is from Winter Park, FL and graduated in May of 2016 from Wheaton College in Illinois, with a Bachelors of Science degree in Applied Health Science. During her time in college, she played center field for the Wheaton softball team. She became interested in CORE after reading online about our activity-based approach to treating individuals with neurological conditions and was drawn to be a part of the team as an intern after seeing the success of our clients.

Katie is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and a Certified Functional Electrical Stimulation Technician. After completing her Internship with CORE, Katie joined the team as a Trainer in August of 2016. She is constantly learning more about the neurorecovery field and is excited for her future at CORE.

Lauren Wright, BS, ACSM-CIFT

Rock Steady Boxing Coach

Lauren recently graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport and Exercise Science and is now continuing her education in Pharmacology and Alternative Medicine. Lauren joined the CORE team in July 2016 as an intern and proved to be an asset to the program as she was offered the opportunity to join the team permanently as a Neuro-Exercise Specialist.

She is a Certified Functional Electrical Stimulation Technician and has taken a special interest in Myofascial Decompression and how this can benefit our clients. Lauren enjoys watching CORE’s client progress through their goals as their determination and drive inspires her.
