Spirit Week

CORE is celebrating 12 years of Moving Beyond Paralysis™ in style August 7th – 12th! As always, we’ll have themed dress up days all week long and this year we’re introducing the Wheel of Payback. Support the CORE Foundation and spin the Wheel to embarrass the trainer of your choice, or even the whole team all at once (admin included) with whatever silly task you land on. Show us your CORE Spirit all week long!

Oceans of Hope

We had a fantastic time out at this year’s Oceans of Hope adaptive surfing event! If you missed out on this event, don’t worry Oceans of Hope is back on the beach August 18th. Check out their website for details on more events!

Labor Day

CORE will be closed for Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, September 2nd through Monday, September 4th. Regular training hours and classes will resume Tuesday, September 5th. Enjoy your holiday!

Goal Domination: Water Polo Style

August 21st – September 1st the Aqua Specialists are challenging you to get in the pool and make as many goals as you can in two minutes. All participants have as many opportunities to get in the pool and retry the challenge as they would like during the two weeks.

If you haven’t tried out an aquatic training session yet, but water polo is calling your name, speak with a member of the admin team about how to get started.

Farewell Summer 2023 Interns

We had a great class of interns this summer and we are sad to see them go, but wish them all the best in school and beyond!

Have You Heard About ZebraFish Neuro?

CORE is partnering with ZebraFish Neuro, an SCI rehab specific educational resource platform and authors of the SCI recovery book, From the Ground Up, to host a three day workshop. The workshop for SCI rehab and movement professionals will be Friday, November 3rd through Sunday, November 5th. Interested in joining the CORE team and other professionals in the field? There are just a few registration spots open. Hurry and sign up before it sells out!

2023 Reindeer Run & Roll 5k

The 2023 Reindeer Run & Roll 5k is Saturday, December 16th! Our annual 5k supports the CORE Foundation Scholarship Program, and it isn’t just a 5k. We’ll have food, drinks, a raffle, a DJ and more after the race. Registration is open now, and you have until November 26th to sign up and receive an event t-shirt.

We are looking for sponsors for this year’s event as well! Sponsoring the Reindeer Run & Roll 5k makes a direct, needed impact on the local paralysis community. If you or someone you know are interested in sponsoring this year’s event, please check out our sponsorship page.

CORE C.H.A.M.P.s

This month’s employee C.H.A.M.P. is Luke! Luke always comes up with such creative games and activities when training kids and always keeps them engaged in their sessions. He’s also a helping hand whenever needed and a real team player.

As this month’s C.H.A.M.P., Luke has selected Andy as our CORE Client C.H.A.M.P.! Andy always comes in with a great attitude and willingness to try anything. He’s not only made great gains in the gym, but outside of the gym has gotten back into fishing and is even trying out for pickle ball.

Keep up the hard work!

How Can You Support the CORE Foundation?

The CORE Foundation was founded in 2011 to provide needed financial support and education for individuals with spinal cord injury or other neurological conditions, providing them the opportunity to participate in much needed activity-based training sessions. In 2022, CORE Foundation scholarships supported over 3,000 hours of activity-based training for those challenged with paralysis.

The CORE Foundation Scholarship is funded by the generosity of individual donations, fundraisers, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic foundation grants. You can help the CORE Foundation by attending events, such as the Reindeer Run & Roll 5k, grabbing a snack at the Foundation Fuel Market, or donating directly to the CORE Foundation.
