April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and CORE is proud to be an affiliate gym for Rock Steady Boxing and help those living with Parkinson’s in their fight against it!  Research shows that exercise has an impact on reducing the effects of all symptoms of Parkinson’s, and that’s exactly what the Rock Steady Boxing program is designed to do.

Classes at RSB Orlando focus on strength, coordination, balance, endurance, flexibility, dexterity, fine motor skills, voice activation, and agility in a non-contact boxing environment. While two days of exercise or physical activity per week can be beneficial for combating Parkinson’s symptoms, our coaches and boxers see the most benefit from at least three days per week.

Boxers don’t only enjoy the physical benefits of these fitness classes. These wonderful ladies and gents have formed a fantastic sense of community amongst themselves, and cheer each other on in and out of the gym. The Rock Steady Rendezvous, hosted by RSB Orlando, is a great networking event for the boxers to come out of their shells and share their experiences with each other. This event takes place a few times a year and is a great way for the boxers to grow closer to their peers.

Exercise and camaraderie are important aspects in the fight against Parkinson’s, but there’s even more to it than that. Mental exercises are essential to keep your mind sharp. This May, RSB Orlando is introducing the May is Mental Challenge, featuring different puzzles and mental exercises to test your brain power. If you want to know more about May is Mental, talk to a coach today.

If you are just learning about Rock Steady Boxing and want more information, give us a call or come observe a class to see what it’s all about!
