Take Your Workout to the Water Oceans of Hope is a local nonprofit that offers adaptive ocean access for persons with limited mobility. This includes specialized beach wheelchairs or assistance to enter the sand, customized surf boards and kayaks to empower paraplegics and quadriplegics to safely ride the waves or experience kayaking. Our clients, Melissa V. and Kenny M., recently joined Oceans of Hope for a fun day of kayaking out around New Smyrna. “Any time I can get out on the water, it’s a good day,” said Kenny. “Kayaking really challenges your core stability. Just like life, as long as you keep moving forward it is easy to balance.” The next kayak event is May 8. |
