Spirit Week 2024

We recently celebrated 13 years of Moving Beyond Paralysis in August! Spirit Week was August 5th-10th and we loved seeing all of the fantastic outfits each day. This years winners are:

Celeb Day: Dana & Kendall

T-USA-Day: Matt & Elena

Music Fest Day: Sergio/Kaity & Christian

True Colors Day: Dylan/Luke & Ian

CORE Spirit Day: Lauryn & Owen

Sleepy Saturday: Kylie & Bryan

Thank you to everyone that participated, we always love seeing your creativity! And thank you to everyone that donated to Trainer Payback! Your generosity (and desire for revenge against your trainers) helped us raise over $600 for the CORE Foundation. It seems you all had it out the most for Dylan, who had to complete 178 burpees, a CORE mile, and wear the embarrassing shirt you see above (top right).

Reindeer run and roll

2024 Reindeer Run & Roll 5k

We are less than 100 days away from the 2024 Reindeer Run & Roll 5k! Registration is now open, so tell your friends and family and get the whole team together to walk, run, and roll together as we raise money for the CORE Foundation Scholarship program. We’ll have our signature party in the parking lot, complete with DJ, refreshments, and Santa Claus.

We still have plenty of sponsorship opportunities available for this year’s event. If you or someone you know would like to sponsor, please contact Dana ([email protected]) for more information.

We are also in need of volunteers to help with set up, check in, and clean up. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering for the event, please contact Kaity ([email protected]) for more information on volunteer opportunities.

SCI Awareness Month

September is SCI Awareness Month! CORE was founded to help those with spinal cord injuries, and over the years has expanded its services to where we are today. SCIs still make up the largest population of clients we see at CORE, and we’re proud of the impact we continue to make in the paralysis community. Throughout September we’ll be sharing SCI facts and spreading awareness through our social media platforms. And don’t forget to stop by the front desk to pick up your special SCI Awareness Month gift!

CORE C.H.A.M.P.s

This month’s CORE C.H.A.M.P. is David! David wears many hats at CORE, handling the facility, finances, and helping out the admin team. Recently he has shown just how selfless he is by taking care of some of the toughest jobs here.

As this month’s C.H.A.M.P., David has selected Christian P. as the Client C.H.A.M.P.! David has know Christian for many years, and has enjoyed seeing how his dedication to his recovery has grown into what it is today. In his words “the only thing Christian does better than crushing his fitness goals is connecting with others and making them laugh. His willingness to work hard and positive attitude has helped shape the fun environment CORE is known for.”

At the recent Team Florida Adaptive Surf event Christian showed great improvement in his ability to catch waves.

Keep up the great work guys!
